At Opasquia School we believe that healthy snacks should provide kids with a boost of energy and help us to gain an understanding of healthy eating habits.
We know that poor eating habits and missed meals have an impact on students’ behaviour and learning. All Opasquia students are welcome, but not required, to bring a nutritious/healthy snack to enjoy each morning.
Some foods are better than others at promoting sensory awareness and alertness. Some foods, although healthy, can be high in calories or just too messy for snack time. Healthy snack times may vary slightly in each classroom depending on their schedules and recess breaks.
At Opasquia School this is our list of healthy foods that we believe provide our students with an adequate boost, and that can be eaten with minimum fuss and mess, as we do not stop teaching during this time.
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Cheese and crackers
- Yogurt tubes
- Granola bars without chocolate
(No spoon foods please)
