GENIUS HOUR

Genius Hour has been implemented in classrooms around the world and major companies such as Google.  Google’s 20% time gives their employees a “Genius Hour” experience during their work day. Individuals are given time to explore their own passions which have led to popular movements like Gmail.  20% time is noted to lead to improved morale and productivity within the workplace.

At Opasquia, Genius Hour will give us time to learn and explore a topic that we are truly interested in.  Students will be responsible for their own learning and start the process by creating a plan.  Their plan will involve developing questions they want to explore, finding resources they will  use to help them answer their questions, and they will determine an appropriate way of sharing their learning with other geniuses.   The role of Genius Hour volunteers will be to support and encourage the students through their exploration.

Most materials will be supplied by the school.  However, your child may come home with a  note/list for every day household items that they may need to complete their project.

Takes place on Day 4 from 12 to 12:45pm

Students on the waiting list will be notified when it is their turn to attend.
